Selfish
Listen to this "Talk of the Nation" guest, and try to find one point at which she expresses a viewpoint that is anything other than selfish. Her whole viewpoint is based on Americans eating what they want (or as much as they want), cheaply, without regard for the effects. Most egregious are her two comments about how the problems of China are not our problems, and the problems of Mexico are not our problems.

I wish the host had challenged her a bit more, and at least, even subtly, pointed out that she was expressing an extremely selfish viewpoint.

The world's problems will never be solved until we start pushing back against selfishness. Imagine the transformation that the world could see if every person was assessed for selfishness, and only the least selfish were allowed to procreate.

Wow, yeah. Pretty much boils down to "I'm an American, so I can shit wherever I want."

interesting listen, I don't listen to Talk of the Nation much anywhere

...when she said "those are China's problems, not our problems", that sounded about as selfish as one can sound

...and she brings up the most egregious examples of expensive organic foods to prove her point, like the artisanal gelato for $6.00/half a pint, if you try a little harder you can find reasonably priced (although not cheap) organic/local food

If you download the TOTN podcast, then you can pick and choose which topics interest you.
