winter this is scott, found this link via cgp. i thought you let TYPER* go because it gave you a bingo. Even though you got one from the E, you missed REBUTTAL from the R, not only for more points but preventing my 56 point X play a few turns later. I may have got better tiles, but if you make that play the game is much closer.

Nope, letting (T)YPER* go was a flat out mistake--you scored a lot there, and if I challenge it I probably win.

I don't consider (E)mBATTLE a mistake. Quackle scores it slightly above (R)EBuTTAL, though I'm not sure why.

But once I saw it was the highest-scoring play, aside from putting the B at at O12, there was
no value to spending more time looking. I wasn't worried about the X play. That's low probabibly.

Fact is, if you don't draw ALL three of J, X, and Z, I probably win.

But the fault was mine for letting (T)YPER* go to begin with.

I don't deny that having more power tiles increases my chances of winning. But again my X play probably wouldn't have scored as much had you taken the TWS with a bingo from the R (given you let typer go). I just can't see any reason strategically to accept a bingo from the E without even looking if you have one from the R.

Oh, there's one clear strategic reason... *time*.

I'm a bit fuzzy, but I think I was starting to struggle for time already by that point.
