HELP!!! ANYBODY NEAR DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES???
Anybody live near downtown Los Angeles or know somebody who lives nearby?

How near? Where I'm sitting right now is about 6 miles from downtown, and it would be sort of on my way home, if I weren't going to club tonight.

Starbucks at 12th & Hill, in the AT&T Building, 1149 S. Hill Street. Hours are 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The barista I spoke to wouldn't give me any information regarding whether the store will be closing down. I will keep trying to call and reach different baristas, but I suspect a physical customer in the store is more likely to get a straight answer.

I can try stopping by after work tomorrow. Will it be hard to pry it out of them? Do they all even know for sure whether it's closing?

The barista did at least tell me that they would be open through next week. That does not mean they are closing. They might not be closing at all. The policy from last summer was to give the baristas 30 days notice, but I don't know how strictly they adhere to that.

If you don't sound like you are collecting information, but just ask casually, like "I read a bunch of Starbucks are closing--are y'all going to be staying open." I think they might be forthcoming, if they know anything (they might not).

If it's too far out of the way, or traffic is really bad, don't worry about it, but if you do make it out there and get solid info, it would help set my mind at ease. I'm feeling anxiety about whether I should spent the money to fly out there just to get that store (EXPENSIVE).

I can make it either tomorrow or Friday after work. On Google maps it looked like there was a parking lot about a block away. It's pretty cheap to park for a short time at that hour, so don't worry about it.

There might also be street parking a block away or on the other side of either street.

Mission accomplished. I asked the guy at the cash register, "They're not going to close this location, are they?" He replied "Nooooo! I don't think so, not likely."

It seemed like a great location to me, being in a big office building near other big office buildings. I don't think you have to be in any rush to visit this one.

Hey, thanks a lot!

I've been agonizing whether to spend the money to fly out there, and I'd hate to waste it unnecessarily if the store is still going to be around when I make my next big road trip.
